2 Samuel 7: David and the Temple - Pastor Matt Clausen

What is the foundation of your relationship with God—is it what you do for Him, or what He has done for you? In this sermon on 2 Samuel 7, Pastor Matt explores King David’s desire to build a grand temple for God during a period of rest and peace. While David’s heart and motivations were right, God turns his plan upside down: instead of David building a house for God, God promises to build an eternal "house" and dynasty out of David’s family lineage.

Anchored in Psalm 16:2 ("I have no good apart from You"), this message serves as a liberating reminder that we cannot earn or pay back God's grace. Instead, our true calling is to recognize, enjoy, and "revel" in the overwhelming generosity and spiritual blessings offered through Jesus Christ.

David: Faith, Failure, and the Pursuit of God

David is one of the most well-known figures in Scripture—a shepherd, a warrior, a king, and a man after God’s own heart. But his story is not just one of victory; it is also marked by failure, brokenness, and repentance.

In this series, we’ll walk through the life of David to discover what it means to pursue God in every season—when we are chosen, when we are tested, when we fail, and when we are restored.

Series Memory Verse – Psalm 63:1
"O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water."

Pastor Matt Clausen preaches from the Prior Lake Campus.
