The Upper Room: John 14:1-14 - Pastor Matt Clausen
In this continuation of The Upper Room series, Pastor Matt explores Jesus' parting words to His disciples. Faced with troubling circumstances like Jesus' imminent betrayal, denial, and crucifixion, the disciples are told, "Let not your hearts be troubled" (John 14:1a). In a world currently battling an epidemic of anxiety over finances, relationships, health, and death, Jesus provides four powerful steps to replace a troubled heart with a heart of peace:
- Believe in God:
- Believe in Jesus:
- Believe in Heaven!:
- Believe God will Grow His Kingdom
- (07:01) - #1 - Believe in God
- (11:55) - #2 - Believe in Jesus
- (14:12) - Jesus is the Only Way to God
- (20:22) - #3 - Believe in Heaven
- (24:08) - Finding Satisfaction in Another World
- (30:25) - #4 - Believe God will Grow His Kingdom
- (36:28) - Greater Kingdom Works
- (41:26) - Praying in Jesus' Name
- (44:37) - Conclusion & Communion
On the night before His crucifixion, Jesus spent His final hours not thinking of Himself, but of those He loved. He washed weary feet, comforted troubled hearts, promised the Holy Spirit, prepared His followers for suffering, prayed for their faith, and prayed even for us.
In this 12-week journey through John 13–17, we'll see the love of Christ displayed in remarkable ways, and discover how His love continues to shape and sustain His people today.
