The Upper Room: John 14:15-31 - Pastor Matt Clausen
In this message from the Upper Room series, Pastor Matt explores Jesus' final words to His disciples on the night before His crucifixion. Focusing on John 14:15–31, the sermon breaks down how love functions within our relationship with God. Because our roles in a relationship shape how love is expressed—just as a father expresses love to a young child differently than the child expresses love to the father—our expression of love toward an infinite God looks fundamentally different from His expression of love toward us.
On the night before His crucifixion, Jesus spent His final hours not thinking of Himself, but of those He loved. He washed weary feet, comforted troubled hearts, promised the Holy Spirit, prepared His followers for suffering, prayed for their faith, and prayed even for us.
In this 12-week journey through John 13–17, we'll see the love of Christ displayed in remarkable ways, and discover how His love continues to shape and sustain His people today.
