The Upper Room: John 15:18-16:4a - Pastor Matt Clausen

In this message from The Upper Room series on John 15:18–16:4a (ESV), Pastor Matt addresses Jesus' pivot from teaching on love to addressing the inevitable hatred and rejection His disciples will face in the world.

In the sermon, Jesus answers three pivotal questions regarding worldly opposition:
  • Why does the world hate followers of Jesus?
  •  What does that hate communicate to followers of Jesus?
  •  How should followers of Jesus respond to that hate?

Prior to the message, the church honors Paul Madison for 31 years of faithful leadership and service on the board and elder team, followed by a pastoral prayer for wisdom, integrity, and gospel-centered witness ahead of Election Day.

On the night before His crucifixion, Jesus spent His final hours not thinking of Himself, but of those He loved. He washed weary feet, comforted troubled hearts, promised the Holy Spirit, prepared His followers for suffering, prayed for their faith, and prayed even for us.

In this 12-week journey through John 13–17, we'll see the love of Christ displayed in remarkable ways, and discover how His love continues to shape and sustain His people today.

Pastor Matt Clausen preaches from the Prior Lake Campus.
